Opening Game - Steelers win 34-15

This years opening game against the Raisins started with a tailgate party and ended with a fight. The STEELERS sent down their television crew from STEELER TV and taped the pre game festivities from the tailgate party through out the final seconds of the game. Maybe we will be on STEELERS TV up in Pittsburgh, some time this year. The STEELERS are sending the camera crew around the country looking for Steeler fan clubs around the nation. They are going to call this episode The Steeler Nation. Lets hope they put us up on the jumbotron when we are up in Pittsburgh for the fan club game in November.

Kudos to All

We just wanted to thank all those who participated in the new raffle we have started this year. The raffle netted $220 which will be given to the Domestic Abuse Center/House of Ruth. While contributing to help others, you have a chance to win all kinds of items autographed by many of the Steeler players. It is a win, win situation.

"REMEMBER WHERE YOU LIVE"
by Pat Varricchio

With last Sundays 34-15 victory over the Ravens, we now have 5 consecutive wins over them. Some of their fans are at their breaking point. So remember where you live and work. Wear your Steeler Colors proudly, talk smack about the game and the stats, but don't let it get personal. Take the high road. It's hard for them to understand that we will never convert to Raven fans. Just tell them '' Thank God we live in a free Country"

What the hell happened!

With 4 minutes to go in the game, and the STEELERS completely smashing the Raisins last Sunday. There was a bit of a ruckus happening in the back of the bar. Seems a Raisin fan had no idea how much a Steeler fan, feels about his terrible towel, they know now. A few words were exchanged, a few feelings were hurt, By the time I got back to where the misunderstanding began, the crowd had dispersed, all was forgiven. Rick the new owner, had the guys up front talking and Eddie got a free beer out of it.

There is lesson that Raisin fans can learn from this, never touch a STEELERS fans TERRIBLE TOWEL unless you want to fight about it. Remember if you feel the need to punch someone, take a deep breath bite you tongue and point to the score board, we try to be known as a family friendly venue.

Women and children like to come here because there a very few problems. Do like Plex did last week to Chris McAllister. Stick your fingers in your ears and go blah-blah-blah, and point to the scoreboard.

Are You Ready for Some Football?
By Romaine Bachman

As we all witnessed last week, the STEELERS started off the season with a bang (sorry, Joey, no pun intended!), blowing out the Ravens 34-15. All of the local PSFCOB bars were bustling with activity, as everyone came out to cheer on the STEELERS for what promises to be another great season.

A few of us from the Bullseye actually made it up to the ‘Burgh for the game…and what a game it was! I believe I heard someone say (and folks, correct me if I am wrong), that was the STEELERS’ biggest season opening win since ‘95. This could be the year, indeed.

We knew it was going to be a good weekend when we passed a bus full of Ravens fans, who, upon realizing we were STEELERS fans, all pointed, jeered and gave us a decisive "thumbs down" (among other fingers). Bet that long bus ride HOME was not quite as fun!

Game day started off with a 7 a.m. call from our fellow Bullseye club member John Hwilka (AKA "Coach"). He called to say he had already staked out a tailgating spot, and the beer, pirogues and kielbasa were there waiting for us. What a guy! After tailgating with the Black ‘n Gold faithful, we made our trek to the stadium. The new hot item with street vendors this year seemed to be the "Where was Ray Lewis when Joey Porter was shot?" T-shirts. That's about the most you heard from native Pittsburghers about Baltimore… its obvious they don't consider this match-up as big of a rivalry as folks in Baltimore do.

To say the game was AWESOME would be an understatement. The weather was perfect. The fans were pumped. And the STEELERS did not disappoint. Despite the pre-game "taunts" and trash-talking, the STEELERS chose to say it on the field, and did it in grand Black ‘n Gold fashion. (And wasn't it cool to see Bocephus himself, singing the National Anthem and wearing a STEELERS jersey!?)

Reveling in the big STEELERS win, we decided to hang out for awhile after the game in the Great Hall. We got to see Myron Cope’s post-game show, which was a real treat. While there, we also got to meet and chat with former Steeler Craig Wolfley. The day was just getting better and better.

We left the stadium, and stumbled upon Gate B (Note to STEELERS fans – The next time you visit Heinz Field, this is where the players exit the stadium after the game). If we told you we not only got to talk to Troy Polamalu, but also got pictures and autographs, you probably would not believe me. And if I told you we then ran into Kimo von Oelhoffen (and again got pictures and autographs), you REALLY would not believe me. I was waiting for someone to pinch me so I’d wake up, but luckily, that didn't happen. It was a perfect ending to a perfect day!

I am not sure if I have ever had such a memorable trip to the ‘Burgh for a STEELERS game. I felt compelled to share my joy with my many Raven fan friends - blaring the STEELERS Fight Song on their voicemail first thing Monday morning. (Don’t worry – I didn't start the trash-talking the week before – they did!). And I even enjoyed the drive back home…even though I didn’t pass a single Raisin bus.

R….U….READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?
By "Coach"

STEELER Football that is…it's that time of the year when every team believes they will make it to the Super Bowl (yes, even the Ravens!!!!). The STEELERS had a mediocre pre season and their secondary is still suspect however they CAN make it…with the beginning of "the most wonderful time of the year" here is my wish list for the 2003 season:

The STEELERS begin and end the season with blowout wins. Tommy Maddox can do it again.
"Famous" Amos & "The Bus" both have 1,000 + yard seasons.
The "D" can stop third and long.
Riemersma learns to block.
Joan can keep us well supplied with cold beer.
Polamalu is a "BIG HIT" in the secondary.
Fu catches on with another team.
STEELERS win their division.
Cowher doesn't get "out coached" again and wins the AFC championship.
DA Bears are the NFC Champions.
Cowher FINALLY wins a BIG GAME and we get "one for the thumb."

Here we go STEELERS, here we go….

Get on the Bus.

There is still time to get on the bus. Our annual game to "What are they calling it this year stadium" is December 28 at 8pm. There is still room on the bus just $15 per seat. Remember, these bus seats are selling fast so it is first come first serve. Along with the bus is the tailgate party, which includes food and beverages. There will be beer, pop and bottled water to and from the game.

If you want to order these tickets send a check $15 per seat and a self addressed stamped envelope to:
