HOME TOWN FLAVOR
BY PAT VARRICCHIO

During the playoff's last season, Tim Varricchio devised a way to hear the pregame on 970 AM-THE BURGH over the Internet. He hooked it up through the PA system which enabled us to listen during our tailgate party at CCC.

This year Tim and Jack "Trail boss" are teaming up to link the Internet sound with the NFL broadcast video. This way we can have access to the behind-the-scenes information by local broadcasters. So stop by the Bullseye Bar & Grille (BB&G) formerly Calgary and see if they have it figured out yet.
Go Steelers!

NEW SEASON - NEW THREADS

To kickoff a new season and a new name to our local Steelers bar, we have a new T-shirt design available for members of the Bullseye Bar and Grille. The T-shirts can be purchased during any of the Steelers preseason or regular season games at the back bar for $10. Proceeds from the sale of T-shirts help support future club activities and the purchase of raffle prizes. Show support for your local Steelers bar.
GO STEELERS!

STEELERS TRAINING CAMP
BY ROMAINE BACHMAN

Just when you thought it couldn't get any better… - For those of us who attended Steelers training camp in 2002, we weren't sure anything could ever top that trip. Heres what I mean:

Imagine hanging out with your fellow-Steeler’s fan club members at Sharky's, the local watering hole, in Latrobe, PA. One by one, BIG DUDES start rolling in. Being football's #1 fans, we know these guys… Kimo von Olhoffen, Casey Hampton…to name two. After we picked up our chins from the floor, we got enough nerve to approach them. And they couldn't have been nicer! How many people can say they have actually hung out and played pool with Steelers players? That was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and we certainly didn't expect to get that lucky this year.

But that's where we were wrong. This year's annual pilgrimage to Steelers training camp proved to be every bit as enjoyable as last year – if not better – for the dozen Bullseye fan club members who attended. For some of the members, it was their second, third or fourth year attending, and the Steelers certainly didn't disappoint!

Two of our faithful female members, Sharalyn Luciani and Karlene Staley, went up a few days early to attend Women's Training Camp, which included various blocking, hiking, and kicking drills, coaching from former and current Steelers players, and a personal autograph session with Hines Ward and Jerome Bettis. (Yes, the players most sought-after for autographs!) Any women who are interested in attending next year should definitely talk to Sharalyn or Kar, as they couldn't say enough about the great time they had!

A dozen fan club members were on hand Tuesday for an afternoon practice session, and on Wednesday night, to attend the scrimmage session at a local high school that also included a 20-minute autograph session from the Steelers players. Fan club members got great pictures/autographs from the likes of Hines Ward, Tommy Maddox, Brett Kiesl, Mark Bruener, Todd Fordham, Mike Logan, Joey Porter, Kimo von Olhoffen (personal fan favorite), and last but not least, Coach Cowher! (Check out the weekly slide show during games at the Bullseye to see some of the PICS!) One fan club member who shall remain nameless even got a hug and kiss from her favorite player, but that's another story for another time…

For anyone who is considering a trip to training camp next year...YA GOTTA GO! In no other setting can you get a chance to see your favorite players up close, get some pictures and autographs, and hang out with Steelers fans who appreciate the black and gold as much as you! Special thanks for Pat and Di Varricchio and Jack and Karlene Staley for the time and effort they spent organizing the trip. Your efforts were more than appreciated!

Be sure to update your membership contact information in the coming weeks at the Bullseye so we can contact you regarding any other special events/trips/important information. Note: Unlike a lot of other NFL teams, the Steelers’ training camp practices are free! There is a nominal fee ($3) for the special scrimmage sessions, but all proceeds benefit the local high school.

GET ON THE BUS!

There is still time to get on the bus. Our annual game to "What are they calling it this year stadium" is December 28 at 7pm. The club has acquired 46 tickets to this game. We now have game tickets 18 left. All tickets are together in an area, I like to call the PSFCOB section. You will be sitting next to a Steeler fan as all the tickets are in a row together. The cost of these tickets are $115 per seat with the bus included it is $130. There is still room on the bus just $15 per seat. Remember, these tickets and the bus seats are selling fast so it is first come first serve.

If you want to order these tickets send a check for the total order and a self addressed stamped envelope to:
