CLUB NOTES

Looking for a way to work off those Opening Day jitters? Here's a way to do just that as well as aid a worthy cause. PSFCOBer Jim Slivka is coordinator of a 5K Race and Fun Walk in conjunction with the Catonsville Chamber of Commerce. The event is slated to begin at 8:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 11. Proceeds will benefit the 2000 YMCA Partner with Youth Campaign which provides scholarships for summer camp, water safety classes and child care assistance for underprivileged kids and parents. The race will begin near Bill's Music House on Frederick Road and circles the Catonsville Business District. For further details, contact Jim at 410-788-0797 or e-mail him.

As always, babies always make for a good club note. This month's entries include:

*Sean Patrick Cooley, born on 2/1/99 to longtime members Ken and Marry Cooley. Sean joins older sister Emily to give Team Cooley a formidable line-up.

*Andrew John Werdin, born on 4/2/99 to PSFCOBer Michael Werdin and his wife Maria. Andrew came in at 7lb. 11oz. and 19 3/4 inches long. Dad made sure everyone knew his allegiance by placing a pair of Steeler booties on his son in the delivery room.

*Emily Jean Noel, born on 6/7/99 to member #1906 Jim Noel and his wife Lisa. At 7 pounds and 19 1/2 inches, Emily will soon catch up with her big bother Zachary and older sister Julia.

High fives and pats on the back to these newest fans and their proud parents.

Congratulations and many years of wedded bliss go out to PSFCOBer Dina Ricchiuto and Steve Campbell who recently announced their engagement. No wedding date has been set but this is understandable as both Dina and Steve are cross country truck drivers. Best wishes to both from all your friends in the PSFCOB.

Looking for a great gift? How about a reversible Pittsburgh Steeler apron. These are stylish, long lasting and the perfect compliment to any tailgate party and at only $12.00 per apron, one helluva deal. To place an order or to get more information, contact Susan Britton at 410-757-5728 or e-mail her.

The annual collage of the 1998 season created by PSFCOBer Christine Thomas will take its rightful place on the wall of The Purple Goose Saloon on Opening Day. This provides fans and patrons alike with a walk down memory lane along with collages from years past. Be sure to check out Chris' handiwork.

The PSFCOB regrets to announce the passing of our oldest known member, John A. Griffin (member #15) at age 88. Anyone who had the privilege of talking to Mr. Griffin knew him to be a great Steelers Fan whose many stories went back to the early days of the organization. Rest assured, Mr. Griffin will be with us when the Black-N-Gold take the field against the Browns.
