ON A SAD NOTE...

Many PSFCOBers enjoy receiving their issues of THE BLACK AND GOLD POST. It has been a constant of Our Fan Club since it's inception in 1990 and has undergone many changes in style, size and content since that time. Unfortunately, due to the sheer size of the Fan Club and its mailings, the printing charges and postage have become such that it simply costs too much to put a newsletter together within the present structure. There were over 170 mailings of the latest edition returned as undeliverable for a variety of reasons. This type of loss, along with the normal operating charges, cannot be absorbed on a continuing basis. Therefore, it has been decided that an annual subscription fee of $5.00 will be instituted in order to try and bring this situation under control. While Our Fan Club has always operated as a non-profit organization, it should not have to operate as an organization constantly in the red. Most Clubs charge their members dues or fees in order to belong or take part. The PSFCOB has never done this and never will. A lifetime membership is just that; a lifetime membership. The subscription fee is simply a way for those who enjoy reading THE BLACKAND GOLD POST to ensure it will be arriving in their mailbox every 6-8 weeks during the season and a few times during the off-season. Of course, there are alternatives to get the newsletter if the idea of an annual subscription fee doesn't meet with your approval. With the computer age upon us, you can choose to have your issue e-mailed to you by joining the Fan Club e-mail group. You may also read the current edition (as well as previous editions) by going to the PSFCOB website. Another option is to pick up a copy on game day at any of the Official PSFCOB bars. The proposed changes will take effect beginning with the next edition which will be out sometime in October so act now by sending your subscription fee (Payable to PSFCOB) to the address on the back of the newsletter. Rest assured, THE BLACK AND GOLD POST will continue to thrive as a result of these changes and will continue to keep the good members of the PSFCOB in tune with what's going on with Our Steelers and Our Fan Club family.

TRIP UPDATE

Things for this years Annual Trip to Pittsburgh are shaping up nicely. To date, orders for almost 50 tickets have been received. Rooms have been blocked off at The Sheraton at Station Square and they are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the PSFCOB. Come December, we are all hopeful that the game itself will have playoff implications. If you haven't sent your ticket order in yet, don't delay too long. Tickets ordered after November 1st will cost $95.00 per ticket as opposed to the $85.00 cost that is presently being offered. This is due to availability issues with the tickets themselves that occur as the season progresses. This problem is further complicated by the fact that this is the last year of play at Three Rivers Stadium. As such, tickets for the final games will be going at premium prices. To put this in a little more perspective, consider this: When inquiries were made prior to the season about tickets for this years Annual Trip, a price of $155.00 per ticket was quoted for the final home game against the Deadskins. Considering this, a price of $85.00, or even $95.00 for the next to last home game seems pretty reasonable. It's even more reasonable when you get to party and tailgate PSFCOB style with fellow Fan Club members. Don't wait 'til the last minute. Send the enclosed order form in today and be a part of history.
