EMAIL PROBLEMS
BY STEVE CHIURAZZI - CLUB PRESIDENT
Over the past couple months, I have been suffering through a multitude of various computer related problems. These problems (thankfully) have not caused any loss of data but it has made e-mail communications with other PSFCOB members spotty at best. As such, if you sent me an e-mail and I didn't respond, I apologize. I try to respond in a timely fashion to any e-mails that I receive and, while I could probably do better, I can't overcome the computer issues.
I'm hoping Santa will leave a new computer under the tree this year but if you need to get in touch with me for any reason, feel free to call me in the evenings at (410)-255-0436. Please continue to e-mail but if you don't get a response, use the old fashioned telephone.
If you need another reason to spend Steeler Sundays at one of the 5 official PSFCOB locations, here's a good one. For the past several weeks, each one of the bars have been offering $5.00 raffle tickets for a chance at two seats from Three Rivers Stadium.
These yellow seats are from the 500 section of the former home of our Mighty Steelers and come mounted on a metal frame complete with a special certificate of authenticity. These seats are ready to use and would make a FANtastic addition to any room in your home.
These seats have been witness to many special moments in 30+ years of Steelers football. From the Immaculate Reception in 1972 to the final AFC Championship in 1995, these seats have seen it all. Hall of Famers too numerous to list to 10 years of PSFCOB trips, these seats have seen it all.
The drawing for this special prize will be held on December 1st at The Purple Goose Saloon. The winner does not need to be present to win and delivery of the seats to anyplace you desire is guaranteed. To date, the seats have been to each one of the Fan Club locations with the exception of Frederick and we hope to make that visit in the next couple weeks.
The only place you can get your raffle tickets is at one of the Official Fan Club establishments so take a $5.00 chance and own... a piece of history.
The PSFCOB once again has lost a member of its' family with the passing of Louis W. Reed III on September 8th, 2002. Known simply as "Sweet Lou" to his friends, he was a familiar face at The Purple Goose Saloon on most game days. You could always count on Sweet Lou to help out in any way possible when asked, whether it be selling raffle tickets, cleaning up after a tailgate party or taking care of signing up new members.
His passion for the Steelers was extraordinary, especially in light of the fact that Sweet Lou was born and raised in Baltimore. He was not a transplant from Pittsburgh, like many of us are, but rooted on the Black 'n Gold with the same fervor that one would never know the difference.
Lou also played for the first couple years on "The Purple Goose Steelers", our Fan Club softball team. Those early years were trying because, simply put, we just weren't very good. No matter what, you could always count on Lou to be there on those Sunday mornings ready to play ball. While not blessed with the most God given talent, Lou always made the most of his opportunities and always tried his best.
Sweet Lou was only 35 years of age when he was taken from this earth and leaves behind his wife Nancy and 7 year old daughter Jeannie. Being the father of 2 young girls myself, Sweet Lou and I spoke often about the trials and tribulations of fatherhood and you knew that he cherished every moment. Sweet Lou, you will be sorely missed my friend.
