ONE GAME AT A TIME

The second season begins Saturday January 15th as our Mighty Steelers take on the New York Jets at Heinz Field. What a ride it’s been thus far !!! The Black ‘n Gold has surprised most everyone but themselves to get to this point. The Roethlisberger era has begun one season before anyone thought and has helped pave the way to the AFC North crown. The running game has emerged from its one year hiatus to once again become a force in the NFL and an old Bus has found new life. The defense has once again moved to the top of the league and has resumed it’s rightful place in the psyches and nightmares of opposing offensive coordinators.

While we all want to look ahead, let’s follow the lead of the team and take it ONE GAME AT A TIME. Chants of “One for the Thumb” and talk of Jacksonville seem to permeate every discussion and thought surrounding this squad. While it’s a nice position to be in, we can’t lose focus of what’s in the way.

At this point, there are three teams in our way. Three teams who have played well enough to make it to this second season. Three teams whose fans have the same vision as all of us. Three teams who like to think they’re better than the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The 2004 Pittsburgh Steelers have played this season ONE GAME AT A TIME. They have overcome injuries and assorted obstacles to get to the point they’re at right now. They have set records that no one ever imagined. But they know the pitfalls of looking too far ahead. The visions of 2001 are still very fresh for many on this team and there are those (fans and players alike) who still smart from the disappointments that ended the ‘94 and ‘97 campaigns.

So, sit back, try to relax and enjoy the rest of the season ONE GAME AT A TIME!!!

PSFCOB MEMBER # 3,000

Can you believe it? The thought of a transplanted engineer from Bellaire, Ohio some 15 years ago has grown into something that is a driving force in what is commonly referred to these days as The Steeler Nation. From the humble beginnings of a few fans at what used to be known as Jeremy’s in Westminster to five packed local bars in greater Baltimore, the PSFCOB now approaches another milestone in its storied history.

This week’s play-off game will mark the naming of Member # 3,000 of The Pittsburgh Steelers Fan Club of Baltimore. All new members who signed up at any of the five official PSFCOB locations during the last regular season game and before the start of the Jets game will be eligible for this prestigious honor.

At halftime of the game, a raffle will be held at The Purple Goose Saloon to pick Member # 3,000. To commemorate this honor, the winner will receive a Steelers charcoal grill fashioned out of a quarter keg.

Can Member # 4,000 be far behind ???
